People seem more afraid of crime than they are likely to be victims of crime. But are there any patterns in the demographics? Are those who are more afraid also more likely to be victims?
I made an interactive data visualization to try and find out: (in English)
This data is from Sweden’s crime reporting agency, Brottsförebyggande rådet.
The fear data is from the Nationella trygghetsundersökningen (Sweden’s national safety survey), also hosted on the same site. The surveys can be found here.
The code is on Github, here.
